Every Police officer is a decision maker, from Constable to Commissioner.They all require bespoke intelligence to make context specific decisions. The functionof Intelligence is to enable Police staff to make the best possible decisions, soas to enable Our Business.

Waikato District has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and experiencedperson to utilise their skills in analysis in a dynamic area of Policing. Analyticalexperience and excellent writing skills are essential. You'll be adaptable, enthusiastic,flexible and a fast learner, who can easily come to grips with different businessneeds and processes. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to workacross multiple business units. It would be preferable if you bring to the position,skills including: statistical analysis (such as Annova testing in Minitab); htmlconstruction; computer software language skills (such as a proficiency in Pythonscripting and R), and; ArcGIS (general proficiency with mapping techniques).

As an Intelligence Support Officer, you will work within the District CommandCentre and produce intelligence products that provide understanding of the criminalenvironment and identify emerging risks and priorities. You will provide insightthat informs decision-makers and supports the deployment of police resources inreal-time, particularly in respect of priority and repeat victims, offenders andlocations. Doctrinal change has generated a critical need for technical intelligenceand deployment solutions. There is a need for statistical, mathematical, computerscience, and advanced social science at the operational level. You will drive innovationthrough collaboration with the National Institute of Security and Crime Science,based at the University of Waikato.

The successful Applicant must demonstrate in their Cover Letter the followingExperience and Skills.


    Demonstrates the ability to conductanalysis of the environment including patterns and trends, drawing conclusions andjustifying recommendations.

    Demonstrates analytical skill working with ambiguousinformation and adding value to information obtained.
